Standard 8: Instructional Strategies
DESCRIPTION
This artifact is a review game I created for my Photo 1 class called Ultimate Trashketball Trivia 1000. It’s typically played at the end of Quarter 1 for their final assessment. The game involves students working in teams to answer photography trivia questions. For each question, only the designated, rotating “Trashketball Star” can hit the buzzer and respond. If they get it correctly, they can earn extra points if they successfully shoot the “ball” into a makeshift hoop. The game is designed to make review interactive and fun while promoting collaboration, quick thinking, and the application of photography knowledge. Students also practice communication, teamwork, and self-regulation throughout the activity.

JUSTIFICATION & REFLECTION
This artifact demonstrates how I use a variety of instructional strategies to engage students in meaningful, content-focused learning. I selected this artifact because it demonstrates how I make review both fun and effective –– giving students the chance to apply knowledge, collaborate, and build critical thinking skills in a hands-on, interactive way. It reinforced that students can absorb content better when learning is active, playful, and collaborative. Moving forward, I will continue experimenting with creative strategies, using student feedback to refine activities, and balancing engagement with content mastery to ensure all learners are supported, challenged, and motivated to succeed.
